about

It’s ‘The Merry Traveller’ and not ‘Traveler’ because she was taught and educated since young using Queen’s English.

The Merry Traveller was another person at a different place and at a different time and has been blogging under various pseudonyms since June 2001.

She has simple pleasures.

She reads but can never read enough. She writes but only when the mood is right. She is often tickled pink by the smallest, weirdest thing. Her wanderlust tendency is strong but is often controlled by limitations (you know, well, limitations). She has always lived the life of a recessionista which is defined by Mary Hall of the Recessionista blog as “a former fashionista on this new quest for fine items at an affordable cost” (okay, I was previously a poor specimen of a fashionista). She wants to work as a waitress, wearing a checkered apron with her unruly hair tucked neatly in a little bonnet in a cosy side cafe, serving coffee, bagels and macaroons to the early birds in the streets of Paris. She envisions herself scourging flea markets for thrifty finds, visiting musky old bookstores to rescue waylaid silverfish and daydreaming in a train that huffs and puffs and toots away in scenic parts of Europe. She stealthily divests her mother of vintage bags she can get her hands on. She has no qualms about the use of the word ‘fuck’ to demonstrate her points or the lack of.

This online endeavour is the window to her soul and in it, you can find musings of diverse subjects, captures of everything possible within human capacity in an imaginative manner. It speaks of a forgotten dream to ingest journalism in its most fundamental and heartfelt format.

She has once desired to own a bright red trenchcoat of wool. She now has one bought at more than 50% off from Marks & Spencer.

As for the header image on this blog, I took it off Google and couldn’t find the original art owner to thank her. If you happen to be here, thank you!
